Abstract
Indiscriminate use of pesticides in agricultural and public health, contaminate the aquatic ecosystem causing harmful effects to non target organisms. Exposure to such pesticides create imbalance in physiological functioning of the organisms .To study this, acute toxicity tests were carried out by using endosulfan (organochloride)to the fresh water bivalve Corbicula striatella. The regression equation were established by using probit mortality and log of concentration of pesticides .The LC10 and LC50 values were found to range from 7.91to0.21 ppm and from 9.62 to 0.62 ppm respectively for 24 to 96 periods of time.
